Nel corso del primo Consiglio dei Ministri, il 21 maggio 2008 a Napoli, com’è noto è stato approvato un insieme di modifiche e proposte normative, anch’esse nominalmente riferite alla “sicurezza”, che prevedono pesanti restrizioni and new types of crime, affecting in particular immigrants, directly or indirectly. In this context, in different parts of Italy, there have been attacks contro le comunità rom. Attacchi che anche Amnesty International condanna e per i quali chiede che siano aperte indagini per accertare le responsabilità, che siano forniti adeguati risarcimenti per le vittime e le loro famiglie e che sia garantita un’adeguata protezione dei rom da qualsiasi forma di violenza.
Nel corso del 2007 e sino a praticamente ieri si sono verificati attacchi violenti ad accampamenti rom in diverse città e sono state segnalate diverse aggressioni ai danni di immigrati romeni e di altre nazionalità, tra cui i recentissimi episodi che hanno colpito a Roma, nel quartiere Pigneto, cittadini del Bangladesh.
